The I2C-AO112SI3V2 is a revised version of the original I2C-AO112SI3. The main circuit topology remains unchanged; only the PCB layout has been updated, and the status LED has been eliminated to minimize power consumption. Therefore, this version is fully backward-compatible and can be used as a direct replacement for the original model.
The I2C-AO112SI3V2 is a digital-to-analog output module designed for 2-wire 4–20 mA current loop transmission. The output current is programmable via the I2C interface and is generated using an integrated 12-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC).
The I2C interface is galvanically isolated from the analog output stage by an on-board isolation IC, ensuring signal integrity and preventing ground loop interference when multiple devices are connected to the same bus.
The module incorporates transient voltage suppression (TVS) for protection against surge and transient events. The I2C interface operates with a logic voltage of 3–5 VDC, while the analog output stage requires a separate 9–36 VDC supply. Reverse polarity protection is implemented on the power input to prevent damage due to incorrect wiring.
Up to two boards of this model can be connected to a single I2C bus due to address limitations. However, up to eight boards can be deployed on the same bus by combining different models—namely I2C-AO112SI0(V2), I2C-AO112SI1(V2), I2C-AO112SI2(V2),and I2C-AO112SI3(V2) -each of which is assigned a unique I2C address.
This module integrates a galvanic isolation IC to provide electrical isolation between the I2C interface and the analog output stage. Consequently, an external 9–36 VDC supply must be provided on the isolated (analog) side to power the output circuitry when interfacing with a microcontroller.
To prevent damage to the board, do not plug or unplug I2C cables while the power supply is on. Always turn off the power supply before plugging or unplugging I2C cables on the board.
